CrossFit is a core strength-and-conditioning program centered on constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movements. Its goal is to deliver a broad, general, and inclusive fitness that manifests as increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. This translates to physical competence across ten fitness domains: cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. CrossFit is also the Sport of Fitness [insert hyperlink to Games site], wherein athletes strive to claim the title of Fittest on Earth. For more information, visit CrossFit.com [insert hyperlink].
CrossFit arrived at Brand X in late 2003 as a result of co-owner Jeff Martin’s [insert hyperlink to bio] personal quest to find a new fitness regimen. The high-intensity and empirical basis of CrossFit appealed to him immediately. Martin and his wife, Brand X co-owner Mikki Martin [insert hyperlink to bio], obtained their CrossFit Level 1 certifications in 2004 and that same year became the fifth gym to affiliate.
Flash forward to 2011. There are over 3,000 CrossFit gyms in the world, and CrossFit Brand X is the oldest, continuously operating affiliate on Earth. It is also the birthplace, proving grounds, and headquarters for CrossFit Kids [insert hyperlink], internationally renowned and tailored specifically for children with certified programs operating at over 400 CrossFit affiliates.
