Out of curiosity in 1999 he walked into Brand X and discovered that he and Jeff Martin had trained under the same Sifu, Sifu Dan Cepeda. Dan immediately became an integral part of Brand X and has been a ranking Sifu ever since.Always eager to expand and improve his training and that of his students, in March of 2004 Dan enthusiastically joined Jeff and Mikki in becoming a licensed Krav Maga Instructor through the Krav Maga National Training Center (KMNTC).
Dan was immediately intrigued by CrossFit when Jeff Martin brought it to Brand X in 2003. Involved in fitness training for many years, Dan recognized the superb training potential of the CrossFit method. Dan became a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer in 2005 and began teaching adult CrossFit classes at Brand X. To expand his knowledge and enhance his abilities as a trainer, Dan also became a USAW Olympic Weightlifting Coach. In 2006 he was certified at John Hackleman's MMA CrossPIT Certification in Santa Cruz, CA. Dan became CrossFit Kids Certified in January of 2008 and is an important member of the Brand X support staff for the CrossFit Kids Program.
