We have too many heroes lost and not enough workout days to commemorate them. I think it’s fitting to always think of the men and women in service, whether military or peace officers and public safety, as we do our workouts. A bit of motivation to throw a little of our sweat and maybe a drop of blood on the floor in their honor.

Pack reps, puppy weight:
With a 10# barbell, 21-15-and 9 reps for time of:
Turkish Get-ups, alternating arms
Sotts press

BUY-IN:  3x5 CWFU + OHS and front squat with bar for practice
3x5 practice Sotts press

WOD:  8:48

CASH-OUT:  4 x 15 burpees + 50m swim

This was not as easy as it looked on paper (like it ever does!).  It took me the first set of 21 to really be able to do the Sotts press correctly, squatting and switching a 10# bar from hand to hand above my head.  I can’t believe those firebreathers are doing this with a 45# bar.  This was the only bar available to my WOD buddy and I.  I’d love to try this again with a 20-25# bar but of course, I’ll be sloshing through it.

BURPEE CHALLENGE DAY 61

i didn’t think u should be switching hands during the scott press??  i think that’s just a 2 handed press while in the squat position

It looks like I misread the workout and thought it was always alternating hands.  I was lowering and raising, then switching at the top, as opposed to the bottom of the press, just because my head was getting in the way!  Bar was aligned front to back.  But I was certain to only have one arm hold the bar at any one time.  I looked like I was about to throw a spear while taking a dump!  red face

Been out of the loop for far too long ( like a month!?! ) because of finishing the second month of “Insanity”. Definitely was not worth my time, I’ll be posting a review of my own experience and views soon, if anyone will be interested in reading. Anyhow, saw this one last week and wanted to do it on my last “Fit Test” day to get a little bit of the CF feel back into my life.

$in: Insanity Fit Test, stretching

The Porch:
For time: 6 minutes
21 Pull-ups (jumping, hands facing towards each other on my “Iron Gym”)
21 Handstand Push-ups (toes on sink counter top, 1/2-1/4 of the way down downer )
18 Pull-ups
18 Handstand Push-ups
15 Pull-ups
15 Handstand Push-ups
12 Pull-ups
12 Handstand Push-ups
9 Pull-ups
9 Handstand Push-ups
Handstand push-ups are “nose to floor” and pull-ups are “strict” or non-kipping.

$out: stretching

This was definitely a big dissapointment but was what I was expecting. When I stopped CF to finish Insanity I was able to do full pike, head to floor HSPUs and could sustain jumping pullups (or 3 strict pullups) with decent effort. I was more winded from these 6 minutes than I have been in the past month. I feel like I’m starting all over again—guess it’s just more of an excuse to work on form so it’s not all bad.

BI: cfWU (45#OhSq + 3 * 50 PU)

Pack:
With a 15-25 (20, no barbells at 25) pound barbell, 21-15-and 9 reps for time of:
Turkish Get-ups, alternating arms
Sotts press

22:37.61 -  failed to check out the vids of TGUs and was slightly unsure of my form.  In hindsight I didn’t a couple things wrong, but with the light weight, it wasn’t a big deal.  For next time, coming down, hand goes in front.  going up is more like a lunge than a squat.

$o: 2*( 10 T-holds, 10 K2E, HS hold)

cfeR - Took my big dog out for 30 min run, took the little dogs out for 5 minutes CD.

WU: 10 double unders
0.75 mi jog, light plyos

WOD:
With a 24 pound iron bar, 21-15-and 9 reps for time of:
Turkish Get-ups, alternating arms
Scotts press

28:34

TGU’s were slow, esp in the 15 set.  Some pauses without stopping clock to explain WOD to others. Note: open up shoulders behind ears on Scotts press.

Sprints:
3 sets of (3x 50-100)
with 1 min rest between sprints, 2 min rest between rounds
felt good, 100’s around :15 on turf
had to stop a set short when I felt knee getting tight, cardio was fine

CO:
throwing
10 double unders

Back Squat 3,3,3,3,3

225, 245, 265, 265, 265

Thought about 275 for the last set, but I remembered the wise words of Metric and Garddawg, and decided not to be pig headed (yet!).

Practiced Sotts press and found that a 45 # bar is still a bit too heavy for me.
I think I’ll start practicing daily with a wooden dowel.
