Snatch - critique me

Little Snatch Session the other day that I recorded to watch myself and see what to work on:  http://vimeo.com/20577332

Please watch and critique what I need to work on most.  I know that I should keep my feet in a bit more and focus on my knees not coming in as much on the catch.  Anything else that I should focus on or what I should work most to improve my snatch?

I would also ask you to set your hips higher when setting up. Right now they are at the same height as your knees and need to be higher than your knees. this will help with your hips rising before your shoulder/the bar.

Work on your reach. Push on weight overhead as much as possible.Doing overhead squats 2-3 sets x2-3 reps 90 % range 1 time per week helps in this area, Gradually increase the weight 5 lbs every week or 2 .Also working snatch grip high pulls to increase pulling power use 90-110 % of your best snatch for 2-3 reps x 2-3 sets.Weak catches lead to injuries.I tore my tricep catching 209 lbs poorly when my shoulders weren’t fully engaged and the weight came crashing down across my shoulders tearing medial tricep( Totally my fault because of impatience).your 1 st and 2nd pulls look ok and you seem plenty flexible to recieve, overall you have pretty good form. Be patient and check out Mikes Gym website for training info.Thats who I went to for advice in 2000 when I started. best of Luck in your training.

Two things I can see that are gonna improve things for you. 

First, drill your footwork.  Draw outlines around your feet in the jumping and landing positions and practice without a bar till you are hitting them consistently.  Then hit them fast - stomp the landings.  Then drill with PVC, empty bar etc.  Maybe take a couple of sessions till you have it dialled in but should be a pretty good return on investment.  Your wide landing stance and inconsistency is certainly hurting the integrity of your receiving position (ie bottom of the OHS)

Second - you are passive when you receive the bar.  I mentioned above to hit the footwork aggressively - you also want to have your arms locked out and shoulders engaged by the time your feet hit the deck (ie FAST!!)

Other than that you look to be off to a solid start - drill the footwork and things will get better
