Overhead problems

Hi there
I am new to CF and working my way into a lot of the exercises.  I have noticed I have a problem with most if not all of the exercises that involve lifting heavy weights overhead: OHS, push-jerk, handstand push ups, etc, etc.  Either I can’t do them at all, or can only do with very light weights and is uncomfortable. 

I suspect it has to do with kyphosis—tendency to hunch at the desk.  Wondering if anyone has ideas for how to help out with this.  Exercises?  Stretches?  Form issues?

Video or at least pix please - maybe start with some presses and or push presses and we should have a better idea of what is what.

What Kempie said as far as helping you with the exercises. WE need to see the movements to know what’s wrong with them.

As for stretching. the answerer for any and all mobility related questions is the Mobility WOD (MWOD) project.

Read the FAQ and get started.

And don’t just pick out the ones related to your kyphosis. If you’re deskbound you almost certainly have a lot of issues you need to be dealing with. Goodness knows I do.

Hello
It took me a while to get to the gym with a camera AND convince the managers it was ok to photograph in the gym. 

Here are some links to videos of lifts today, at a light weight (maybe 15-20rm) and heavier (maybe 3rm).  Since writing this post, am wondering if it is simply a matter of being weak in the overhead department.  I’ve just never had much luck with shoulders. 

Also including vids of DL.  You can follow the links or just search mennoninja on youtube.  The overhead issues are my main concern, but I will be VERY grateful for any feedback you can give on either lift.  Am doing a lot of hard work on my own and am desperate to know how to improve.

Hey brother,
Your deadlift start position is all wrong.  I will come back to that later.  You have some definite mobility issues overhead.  Watch how even with the light weight, your spine starts out neutral, but you break in the lower thoracic region as the bar travels upwards.
