Connor Martin on today’s WOD - video [wmv] [mov]
Apparently double-under skill skips a generation.
Just watched all three. Not much difference on the double unders.
On the OHS
I can see some differences in foot width but they seem to vary by the individuals.
Depth is pretty uniform exept for one guy.
I’m not sure what you’re looking at.
One thing I did notice for me. All of my previous OHS have been with arms held in thruster position-straight up and wobbly through the entire lift. I had no idea it was held in the snatch position with wrists locked back.
Watch the different WOD demos. What do you notice?
1) Camille and Stacey are a lot prettier than Connor, Rich and those other guys.
2) Connor had some crabby old dude grumping at him, I mean coaching him, from behind the camera.
2) Camille is pretty
3) Someone needs to buy Rich some shirts.
4) Camille is really pretty.
5) Connor’s the only one who consistently stands all the way up in the OHS.
But I had much more fun watching Camille not stand up than I did Connor stand all the way up.
In fact I may go watch her not stand up a few more times.
WOD 111018 (Pack)
5 RFT of:
200m Run,
7 MU progs (jumping, rings 2"above head),
200m Run,
7 HSPU progs (facing wall, palms 28” from wall, top of head touch ground between hands),
200m Run,
L-sit 15 secs,
200m Run,
10 Pistols (alternating legs)
Time: 46:45
Picked a HSPU progression where I could only do 2 or 3 which slowed me down. Tried to keep hollow body position. Tried to keep a steady paced ‘jog’ rather than run. All runs inlcuded a flight of stairs in transition.

The BX video is made to show the athlete move and let us judge precisely that. Commor makes sure to finishe all OHS in full hip extension. Midline is solid all the way. Depth is borderline on one or two squats. On the first round he only did 49 DU’s. Great effort.
Rich Froning has an awesome OHS depth. I would like him to open up the hip more at the top. Also on the DU’s, though that is not a point of performance for this movement.
The AF video shows out of focus humanoids in slo-mo, very in focus images of brand names, and most of all make sure Metric has a good day with a lot of non functional closeups. No idea what the athletes did though.
If I want a WOD Demo, I’m going with the first one. It shows what you’re supposed to do.
The Rich Froning video shows exemplary good squat depth mechanics when Rich does them, good mechanichs by EZ in the beginning but it deteriorates badly as the WOD progresses. It shows less than optimal squat mechanichs when Mr Sailes and Mr Cox are doing them. This video can serve to point out differences when explaining the movement to someone.
If I want to make Metric happy, I send him the link of the second one. I honestly can’t find anything that will tell me how to do this WOD in this video.

Terrible on the Double Unders-I can do a double or triple under but I can’t link two together unless I pull my knees all the way to my chin which I can only do for about three in a row. I do double-single-double-single but really fast and go to full 50 doubles just ignore the singles as extra workout.
OHS was way way better! Not holding it straight overhead and trying to balance completely and totally changed my form. I always thought OHS was holding the bar up like superman but the videos changed everything. I was much more balanced and locking it back over the shoulderblades made the squat feel completely tight.
Ripped out hte 135 lb stuff quickly
the DU’s with additional singles took a lot longer
Before: mobility/stretching, 10 situps
2x: 100m run, 10 12# WB, 10 pushups, 10 12.5kg/28# KBS
8 RFT
45x20 thrusters
:30 handstand hold
:30 rest
16:34
27/106
First three rds were Rx’d, rest were bridged handstand holds
After: 9 kipping pullups, which is a PR for kipped. If we weren’t thrashing our shoulders this week probably could have done more. Definitely feel I’ve got some headroom with these now.
