tried a couple wall-climbs and failed rather miserably.  didn’t really get very close to touching chest to wall (chest prob at least a foot away).  subbed plank holds for all but the very first wall climb.  grasshoppers did not go very well either, my flexibility sucks.  had to slowly move each leg at a time, with lots of breaks.  on many of them it was more like my knee touching the forearm.  on the plus side, using two chairs for parallettes worked well (except i was on hardwood floor so i had to move them back after 2 or 3 cause they slid a bit.  in total, 3 rds + 4 up-downs.  abs and shoulders were pretty much wrecked after, but in a good way.  much harder than it looked.

warmed up alot by learning the new moves and skipping. thought I would go for 20 min today and thought I would manage 1 wall climb per round rather than scaling to planks…....
got through the forst 2 rounds with 1 wall climb but was taken by surprise at the way the rest of the AMRAP caned my delts and upper traps….aaaah, theres the rub! So switched to planks for the remainder of the time.

I lost count by one round as it was really intense - I either did 6 or 7 rounds (I suspect 7!) but the important thing was I didn’t stop for long - just found my upper body breaking the grasshopper sets on the last 3 rounds.

Reall, really enjoyed it all. great WOD. These moves are great for mobilising the hips and lumbar spine - going to use them with my clients once we start doing some scaled WODs together!

Wednesday 111026

Complete as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes of:
3 Wall climbs
10 Up-downs
5 Parallette pass-throughs (forward + back = 1)
10 Grasshoppers (right + left = 1)

4 rounds

This was the second crossfit WOD I’ve done in the past 6 months and man was it evil.  It feels great to get back into it.

Workout of the Day
15 mins to build up to 5RM Sumo Deadlift—405lbs
21-15-9
Toes to Bar
Pullup
Deadlift (135,95)

8:36 Rx

Deadlifts felt strong today but the wod was terrible.  The TTB sucked all of my pullup power and grip became a major factor as well.  One good thing was I was able to finally string some TTBs together at the start so thats a bonus.

Look who’s the Energizer Bunny today with two WODs!

I tried to squeeze these in befor my WOD but had some sleep issues the night before so I slept in and did the WOD alone. Then it dawned on me, I work at a university and the have a weight room so… I liked it like this, fresh for each workout. I think I’m going to be doing my strength work like this from now on.

And nice work for a rest day for you Smokey!

Deadlift 7x1 reps

(#) 135-185-225-275-285-295-305(PR)-315(f)

$out: fire spinning practice for shoulder and wrist mobility

On the recent CFT I hit 275# on the DL, so that’s a 30# PR!  Then, even though it was one rep over, had to try for three plates smile

305 - Very nice.

And fire-spinning, too!  That’d be fun to see on a mainsite WOD.

WOD 111024

21-15-9 reps
Left Arm KB Snatch 25lb. KB
Right Arm KB Snatch
Pull Ups

Did the workout for a time of 10:33.  It was my first time doing the KB Snatch.  I just kept studying the youtube videos and the workout went well.  Its always cool learning a new excercise. I kept the weight down so I could work on the technique.

Cashed Out:

4 sets of 10reps 35lb DB curls. (changed grip ea. set)
50 sit ups
50 push ups

4 rounds + 3 wall climbs

used chairs for pass throughs

first wod in a long time. I was surprised how much the grasshoppers worked my core. That’s a nice new exercise to add to the repertoire.

Big Dawg’d it.  woof, those wall climbs killed me.  4 rounds on the dot.  didn’t rush the last grasshoppers, just layed there for about the last 20 secs whimpering inside and deciding not to even try for another wall climb.  apparently i was so tired after this wod it took me a day to post.  sheet.

Thanks!  i was pretty happy with it smile

And if the frontpage ever says “3 RFT: Light something on fire and spin it around your head for 20 reps” or something similar, I will be set wink
