Any snatch movement is a super goat for me, and today was no exception.  Shoulders just wouldn’t loosen up, and my form felt sketchy at best so I decided not to up the weights like originally planned.

Considering changing my CFWU to swap out OHS (with naked bar) and swap in hanging snatch or something similar.

You could just try adding the burgener warm up everyday, seems to help lots of people with the snatch

My CFWU = 20 each of burpees, back extensions, GHD sit ups, Abmat sit ups, ring dips,  OHS w/45#, Sampson stretch (20 seconds each side), pull ups, arm bar (20 seconds each arm)

Hard pressed on my right. My center is yielding. Impossible to maneuver. Situation excellent. I am attacking.

Also, my hand hurt because of muscle soreness from practicing a large-chorded Rachmaninoff piece on the piano for an hour earlier… That’s unusual smile

Rachmaninoff, OHS and snatch balance - sounds like a classical combination!

Snatch balance 1-1-1-1-1-1-1

95-125(f)-95-95-105-115-125

First time on this move—I jumped up too high too early and failed, then worked my way back up to the fail weight.

For some reason this was a strange move for me, will take some getting used to.

Need to post my workout from yesterday:

111115

Thruster 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps

90,110,130,130,110,120,125

form a bit shaky in the 4th round so I cut back the weight to feel the motion more

And for today: Decided to do two WODS today since the sprints and the Snatches don’t interfere with eachother

111116

Three rounds for time of:
Run 800 meters
Rest 2 minutes

Ran first 1/2 mile on treadmill at 12mph, second on 12mph until last 10th of a mile when i dropped it down to 10mph, third at 12mph first 2 tenths, 10mph for 3rd tenth and 12mph for last 2 tenths

12:26

Cooled down and stretched legs before starting next WOD

111117

Snatch balance 1-1-1-1-1-1-1

65,85,95,105,115,95,95

wasn’t quite sure what the difference between the Snatch and the snatch balance was because video plug in didn’t like the example video so I just assumed to do snatched with a bit of a pause in the last position to let the weight settle in and balance before coming out of the squat

I included a text description of the movement in the first post in this topic. It pays to read the question carefully before you skip to the answer.

THURSDAY 111117

Snatch balance 1-1-1-1-1-1-1

95-105-115-125-135-135-145

Okay, I rocked the form on all reps.  I really feel I could have not MUCH higher in weight, BUT, I am afraid to fail at the YMCA because they don’t have bumper (rubber) weights and it would cause a HUGEASS crash if I dumped it.  Also, I don’t want all the younger guys lifting to make fun of me for sucking, so I did what I knew I could do AND keep good form.  If I had to guess, I think I might have been able to do another 50 maybe.

volume training: emom 20, Ring dips x 2

WOD:  21-18-15-12
pullup straight into knee-to-elbow
50 squats between rounds

20+

Had trouble getting a swing out of the k2e’s that I could translate into a follow-on pullup.  Ended up dropping from the bar often.
