I love it!

We have too many heroes lost and not enough workout days to commemorate them. I think it’s fitting to always think of the men and women in service, whether military or peace officers and public safety, as we do our workouts. A bit of motivation to throw a little of our sweat and maybe a drop of blood on the floor in their honor.

CrossPit takedowns

I’m curious if someone has a brief description or video showing the double leg takedowns that show up in your CP wod’s.  Chances are I’m familiar with the movement (albeit not that great at it), but I’d like to know how your group trains them.  Not looking for free instruction.  I just need to decide, if I’m going to use CP ideas from your site, how I might better modify the skill work portions to suit what our techniques/experience is out here.

Thanks in advance.

I will let LD describe, as I am quite the noob when it comes to this type of technique.

NK,
The double leg takedown we are generally doing is a wrestlers double leg.  If you are familiar with that you don’t need any other explanation if you aren’t I would be happy to do a step by step.

The double leg is shot after passing an opponents punch or is used after a fake of your own.

GD, if it looks anything like this   , then I’ve got a good idea of the technique, although I haven’t worked it much.  The style of jujutsu I study relies heavily on a large number of throws taken from judo, so my experience with entering/shooting is somewhat limited to my own attempts.  I’ll work on these.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes very similar.  Although we would keep penetrating through rather than lifting and throwing, but both work.

Our main reason for working these is not nec. to use them, although they are effective, but rather to be able to defend someone shooting in and taking us to the ground.

I’m convinced that in the street I want to finish the fight on my feet.  I don’t want to go to the ground.  Defending a takedown that every high school wrestler can do is important to achieve this goal, I think.
