Top Dawg, what’s the Lava Drill for those of us who missed Amaryllis getting knocked into the air? smile

We have too many heroes lost and not enough workout days to commemorate them. I think it’s fitting to always think of the men and women in service, whether military or peace officers and public safety, as we do our workouts. A bit of motivation to throw a little of our sweat and maybe a drop of blood on the floor in their honor.

The Lava drill was invented because a non lava drill was simply, too simple. You’re pushed up against the wall and beat, then you break free, and run. Unless someone stopes you, and beats you again. We did this drill outside, but because there was so much space to weave in and out of, you could never get caught, making the non lava drill, too simple. So Jeff cut our running space in half. In order to explain the new smaller dimentions, Jason said there was Lava on one side of the ground, so we couldn’t run through it. Jeff asked if Jason would rather go play with Duncan then work out with us.

Great Drill! I love lava!

heee!

Good one. Nice touch about the lava. As the mother of a small child, it makes PERFECT sense! Maybe, that’s why he jumps from his bed to the chair….hmmmm.

Man, thats gotta be pretty suspicious looking for someone driving by- someone pushed against a wall and beat until they run away.  Sounds good, though.  I used to train with my uncle in a small group, who did filipino martial arts and combatives, and there was a similar exercise.  The group was covered in padding except for one person, and they were supposed to run through the group, using strikes.  The rule was that you could not make a fist (not because it would hurt everyone else, that was just how the method worked) so you’d plow your way through with chops, parries and palm hooks.  Then, you’d turn around and do it again.
Its amazing how mentally changing your attitude about how you do something (lets say, with imaginary lava) can change your performance.
