GardDawg (or BBoJ - Crossfit Diva) WOD calls for rounds of 400M runs and 21 reps of DL…

DL presribed is 155# - I need to drop this down to manageable weight, I’m thinking it’s probably not a percentage of BW, but maybe use a percentage of 1RM.

My 1RM is right around 140 on a good day. Do you think 70# would be a good number to start with for this WOD?

I’m thinking of trying to see if I can do one set of 21 to see if it gives me that “crossfit feeling”. If not, I’ll push it up a notch. Just thought I’d run it by you guys first.

Thanks! Hope you guys had a good Turkey Day! smile

We have too many heroes lost and not enough workout days to commemorate them. I think it’s fitting to always think of the men and women in service, whether military or peace officers and public safety, as we do our workouts. A bit of motivation to throw a little of our sweat and maybe a drop of blood on the floor in their honor.

Laura,
Pick a weight you can manage for 21 reps. Better to go light than to heavy on this.  If you choose 70# and it is to light, concentrate on pushing the movement at a faster pace.

I did this one tonight. Used the treadmill at work. 5% grade. Kept my boots on, because my left foot doesn’t move as much inside.

I did only 3 rounds in 20 minutes. The first round was relatively “fast” compared to the next ones. The last set of deadlifts did me in. I did those with a 10/11 split, :10 rest between to build my steam back up. The bar felt lighter for some reason on the last set. But my legs felt swollen and my back a bit tight. And brother, you could hear me wheezing all the way to UTC.

WITH YOUR BOOTS ON! OUCH.

4 rounds with 70#DL.

Oddly, my runs started out at 3:30 and ended up at about 2:30 by round four.

70# is about half my max DL. Other than taking a breath or adjusting my grip width, DL were unbroken. BARELY!

Correction: Please add one more run to the mix. I just squeezed it in. I didn’t get the last deadlifts in, though. Next time.

Istead of 30 muscle ups??

LOL. I’m gonna be in trouble doing 120 pullups and 120 dips. I hope there isn’t any arm work in your monday plan….

I must have missed something. 120 pull-ups and dips? I don’t see that in the WOD forum. Tell me I need to move the fur from my eyes, and it’s right in front of me.

It is a 5 to 1 ratio.  5 pullups and 5 dips for every muscle up.  So…..they are letting you off easy.  Just as an aside,  It takes me about 5 minutes to whip out 120 dips and 10-15 minutes to do 120 pullups.  It takes about 30 minutes for me to do 30 muscle ups.  Again, they are letting you off easy.

Ok, I’m not whining….I’m not whining….

I’ll let you know how long it takes me to knock them out. Maybe I’ll surprise myself. I think I’ll block them in 4 sets of 30 each.

Yeah, HH, that’s what I’m thinking. I can’t do a muscle up but at some point, I’ll have to start trying!

I only did 3 rounds and 15 Lifts (95 lbs) into 4th round in 20 minutes.
This is the first time I have done deadlifts at all with the exception of
I did one dead lift one time about a month ago just to see if I could.
My back hurts a bit !
