Today was “pack the car for time”. Tomorrow will be “Driving for time”.

Heading to Seattle for the holidays. I only got to say goodbye and Merry Christmas to some. To all my friends, have a safe and happy holiday. I hope the new year brings us all happiness, joy and prosperity. See you in 2 weeks!

GM all. Yesterday was a rest day for me. Today will be tackling y’day’s WOD.

I have a “Personal New Year Challenge” (a nasty one): 5005-3mth-Burpees.

Do not know if I need to post it anywhere…

Target is doing 5005 Burpees in the first quarter of 2009 starting at 10 reps on January 1st (no way starting with 1 rep, THIS is a REAL challenge) and increasing up to 100 reps on March 31st.

Anyone hates burpees? I’ve already booked a vis-a-vis with Pukie, he might be paying me a visit by mid February wink

I did Filthy Fifty today.  I video-recorded this one a while back and was able to really see some areas in terms of form that I need to work on, so I focused on that.  My time was a tiny bit longer because of it, and also because I ran 9 mles about three hours before I did it, and that will tend to take it out of you!  Overall I am happy with my time and performance.

Will there still be workouts and scaling through the holidays?  I do not have the opportunity to head home for the holidays so would like to continue my Crossfit progression.  Thanks again for all you guys do to advance fitness.

23 Rnds compared to 18 last time.

Been off Xfit for the last week, had a bit of bad cold and other Real Life stuff to deal with but it’s good to get back.

Gonna do something tonight to catch up a bit and wonder what people think might be the best WOD form the last week to do? I’m thinking Filthy Fifty or the 800m x 4 runs. Any advice?

Good luck with your challenge - I think you could post your progress at the bottom of your WOD posts without any bother.

One thing I saw with some who attacked the previous burpee challenge was that after a little bravado in the first week or so (weighted burpees, burpee pull ups or box jumps etc) most resigned themselves to just slogging the reps out as penance.  The point I am trying to make is that i would use the time to get better at burpees rather than just able to knock more reps out.  Check some of the footage of Speal and some of the other CF studs at the games doing the Deadlift/ burpee workout.  Their burpees are fast, smooth, athletic and powerful.  Work towards this as a goal for your challenge.

Cheers, kempie

Yep, that’s precisely my target. Not just getting throught the burpees but doing so with, let’s say, elegant manners. I will sure check the propposed footage.

Thx a lot kempie. Will post progress.

Cindy as Rx’d
27+5pullups+4pushups.

I *really* wanted it this morning. 3 days of good quality rest helped. it was 25 degrees in the gym this morning (very cold for floridians)...I’ve noticed that a nice long warmup really makes a huge difference in my performance.  I think that’s the last of my goals for the year.  I’ll have to go check.

huge PR for me. . last time Cindy came up, it was the day after a TDY filled with drinkin’, eating wrong and staying up late.  (before that my previous was 19rounds)..

cheers!

CFWU x 2

WOD:
OHS 5-5-5-5-5
Front Squat 3-3-3-3-3
Back Squat 1-1-1-1-1

Finisher:
50 K2E

OHS - 65#/95/100/105/115 (PR!)
FS - 95/115/135/165/170 (PR!!)
BS - 135/185/205/215 (PR!)/225 (F)

Getting better at OHS, but I’m still having trouble keeping the weight balanced overhead…plus my shoulder strength was a bit of a detractor. Front squat form was perfect, but wrist flexibility was a problem.

EDIT: Did all that yesterday, but had no computer access
