For those of you trying to consolidate time and travel,
there will be a CF Level 1 Cert at Brand X followed by a CFK Cert. in June.
They are both posted on the main site at CrossFit.com .

And this year I’m not coming.

This was a great experience and a fantastic way to get both qualifications.
Ramona’s a nice place, lots of good places to eat and nothing is far away. Perfectly adequate accommodation can be had cheaply (and within walking distance of the gym) or you can travel a little and get something quite nice.

If you can, spend time there either side of the certs. Brand Xers are the best people you’ll ever meet, Garddawg is one of the top coaches in CrossFit and the team he and BlueBugofJustice have assembled are all trained by him, so you’ll get fantastic instruction any way you turn.

Great memories.

Day 6
LauraR’s work and ComiCon.
We find out we’re not terrorists.
I get my flute.
Laura loses her car, we lose the car park, and attached mall. But find the baseball stadium ButterCupCrimeFighter sang at.

A bit hazy on Day 7
But I know we wound up at Big D’s for post kenpo dinner.
I found how mean Luckydawg really is; not very, it’s something we had a laugh over because I had this impression he was.
We meet Radiosound, known as Radiosound1 in those days.

Day 8 and 9 L1 Cert
Meet FirmDancer on Day 8. Found she didn’t go through Dakota to get to Ramona despite her threats to do so to avoid driving the twisties.
LauraR impresses swedish cert attendees over breakfast.
Dinner with the cert instructors.
Hill Sprint Helen, good fun!
Med ball cleans and push-ups. Not! Oh alright it was, but I sucked at it.
Witness Fish taco eating contest by the cert instructors.

Day 10 and 11
Kids cert.
Better than the L1 (for me).
Lots of fun!
Tucker from GSX is a hoot.
Nicole from HQ is one competitive little lady.

Not sure what happened on which day after that, I’ll have to check.

Oh crap, GD’s wading in. shut eye

I was just trying to quiet the mouth of the south (a forlorn hope) by proving I did remember what happened.

Now I’ve attracted the attention of the boss.
I’d better get my writing hat on.

and I’m finally happy looking forward to Day 6.  ComicCon nonsense.  We missed it this year.  Will be nice to see it through the eyes of a New Zealand terrorist.

Oh! Oh! Oh!  Isn’t TP supposed to come in June.

Ill be down for the L1/Kids combo!  I was about to book a room at Ramona Valley Inn.  Is there one closer / cheaper?  Or might this be the place you mentioned?

Im doing the mud run the previous Saturday as well, perhaps Ill see some of you there.

Thanks,

Nick

That’s it. We were quite happy there and there isn’t anything closer (or wasn’t) and definitely nothing cheaper for quite some distance. You’ll pay more for petrol than you’ll save on accommodation, even at the cheaper price of petrol over there.
They seem to have two classes of rooms, the poolside rooms where we were are the better of the two.

There is a brand new Hampton Inn about a 20min drive from BrandX in Poway… did you check out there?

Thanks for the info but it turns out I wont need another place after all.  I was just about to make my reservation for Monday night at Ramona Valley (then I was going to call Hampton for Saturday and Sunday) and when I mentioned “CrossFit” suddenly a room opened up for the rest of the weekend!  LOL I should have dropped the name the first time.

See you in a few weeks.

Hi,

I’m coming to the kids cert June 15-16 (not the L1 cert - got that last year). I already booked a room at the RVI, but would be interested in sharing a room with someone else. Also, if anyone is flying into SD Sunday afternoon, it’d be great to share a rental car as well.

That’s cool!
Word is getting around the businesses in town that there may be something in this CrossFit thing for them. I bet the Sentinel still will be the last people to catch on that “that martial arts place” is doing something very very special.

Although if LauraR has her way they’ll get it. We were looking for a mains adapter for a camera or something and the guy in Tandy’s got a spiel from Laura about Brand X and CrossFit and how they’ll be hearing a lot more about CrossFit thanks to Brand X. She’s a little dynamo when she believes in something. She did some pretty spectacular work as a literary agent a while back too. Ask her about it when you’re there MudRunners.
