Moved from the “Jeff and Dan’s Corner” forum to keep that forum clear for Jeff and Dan to rant in.

I just finished setting up my garage.  I got quotes from Rogue, Pendalay and Garage Gym (Big D’s link above).  All were closely priced, so I made my decision based on who had the stuff I wanted in stock.

The shipping on this stuff is BRUTAL.  I think the shipping for me was close to $600.  If you can pick up the weights in person, you’ll save big $.  Make sure your quote includes a shipping quote.  Don’t be fooled by the “free shipping” come on-they just bake it in to the price of the bumpers and it nets out to be the same.

This: http://www.studbarpullup.com/ is a must.  Also suggest rings and a kettle bell if you can afford it.

If you want to know more details about what I ordered or have any questions about the experience, drop me a PM.

Thank, i was planning on pulling the trigger on the studbar along with my set up. If you don’t mind me asking what did you go with as far as your set up.

These guys have pretty good prices on bumpers, no idea as to quality or how their customer service is. http://www.christiansfitnessfactory.com/index.php/Bumper-Weights/View-all-products

I tracked the frequency of what elements come up in the WOD over time.  Look here

Using this, the number 1 item is the pull up bar.

You can piece together items like a jump rope, kettlebell, box, parallettes, and dumbbells.

I opted for Rogue Bumpers and Bars and such… but then… they are only 90 minutes from me, so I saved shipping by tying in other trips to Columbus…. just had to deal with State Tax.

Honestly…

GS2 has the best quality “low price"deal on their beginner bumper/barbell set. I really like the smaller profile Apollo MGT bumpers, that being said I’ve never received an order form them in less than 90 days (be prepared to wait).

I have used both Rogue and Pendelay/Muscle Driver, both are great to work with.  I started with the Pendelay Hi-temp bumper & “CrossFit” bar set. I have (and continue to) beat the S*$p out of them & they take it no problem.

I like christiansfitnessfactory for everything but bumpers and bars (bars are not good Oly quality & the bumpers are brass insert which is not my preference).

Being a USAW guy, I have to suggest Werksan & Eleiko - you get what you pay for.

Finally - Sorinex: I have no experience with the company, but I’ve used their bars and really like their rack systems. Also after much deliberation my next bar will be either a six-shooter or the all-terrain bar.

Anyway that’s my experience in a nutshell - Cheers

Best Jump Rope??

This one, hands down.  Careful about using it on cement-it will shorten the life of it.  Suggest you order a replacement cable if you’re going to be using it the garage or on the driveway.

It’s worth the $.  I couldn’t get a double under until I bought one.

I couldn’t get a double under until I bought one.

And I can’t with one, so it’s no guarantee of success. Of course actually practising would help.

I disagree. Buddy Lee is overpriced and not really built to last.
I think the ‘PowerMax Speed Rope’ is superior to Buddy Lee.

The nylon covered steel cable is the best rope for the money.

Just go to wal-mart and get their black jump ropes.
