“Death by Pull-ups”

15 rounds and 14 pull-ups

Question:

Since I’ve started doing crossfit, I’ve noticed a reduction in my ability to do push-ups.  Should I start bench pressing more often in supplement to the WOD to increase my pressing strength, or do I simply need to do more push-ups to get better?  Maybe a combination?

Can only share my personal experience with crossfit so this is just my opinion. I found that by just following the mainsite and brand   x and abandoning all other previous things I did b4 crossfit my strength and endurance increase above what it had previously been with conventional routines. I really do not know why your pushups are going down other than maybe an overtraining issue , especially if you are doing much more than the WODS ,warmup, and cashout.maybe a rest week would help. I know when I have a bad day with a move I blame it on unusually strong gravity that day .  Good luck “the cat”

Thanks for the insight Cat, and I love the gravity theory!  LOL  Most other aspects of my strength have increased via crossfit, but my push-ups are a mystery.  I’ll just follow your advice and keep followin the site, and hopefully good things will happen!

Sometimes it will happen that something you were super duper at, goes down a bit as other things you really really sucked at start to come up.  If you want them to come back up you can always focus a bit on them before or after the wods.

What are alligator walks? I saw them on the kids sight also.?

Think Spiderman crawling up the side of a building, only on the ground. Right elbow touches right knee with left arm out in front of you, then reach forward with right arm and leg while left elbow touches left knee. Does that make any sense on paper?? At all???

When I went down to the ground I made it make sense. Thank You
