My gym doesn’t have a rowing machine.  Any suggestions for an appropriate substitution?  I am a Puppy today as I’ve been doing this for about three weeks. Thanks in advance.

sumo deadlift high pulls with a 45lb bar for men, 35 for women, 1 rep = 10 meters, so 750 meters is 75 reps . . .

Buy in:
20 situps
15 box jumps
10 k2e

Twins pack load
2 rounds of each couplet for time:
750m row(subbed 75 sdhp)
20 hsp

95lbs thrusters,20 reps
20 tuck sit pullups

Time=28.41

Brutal wod! My sdhp were better than the other day and my hsp were better than during diane. The thrusters sucked though and the tuck sit pullups were ok i guess. Overall i think i did average. This workout had a lot of my weaknesses. cry

Well, I guess I won’t be posting any more workout results for a few weeks.

Last Wednesday, while riding to work on my motorcycle, someone turned left in front of me.

There wasn’t time to stop, there wasn’t room to swerve, but by braking and swerving violently I managed to avoid contact with the other vehicle. While I was trying to regain control, however, I ran over a large patch area that was two inches lower than the rest of the pavement, and went down hard.

The end result is that I have three bones broken in my foot, and three broken ribs.

The diagnosis for these has come in dribbles.  I went to the ER immediately after the accident, and was released with bruising and abrasions.  I got a call the next day that radiology found “possible fractures” in my foot; went in and got those diagnosed.

Since it was only my lower body that had problems, I figured I could still do some pull-ups to not become a slug.  Bad move!  The dull ache in my chest immediately became a sharp pain.  So, I went in to urgent care Monday and got those diagnosed.

So, I get to be a couch potato for a few weeks while everything knits together.

Sorry to hear thar Ron.  May you heal quickly and mend well!  Broken ribs… ouch… I did that once.  They say they heal stronger than they were before they broke.

DUDE!! Glad you’re relatively okay.  I only know three things about riding a motorcycle:

1) Every other driver hates you.
2) They want to kill you.
3) They are going to try right now.

Oh, and 4) TP’s wife won’t let him anywhere near one.

Mend up.  We’ll be here.

There wasn’t time to stop, there wasn’t room to swerve,

That sucks man, as a fellow rider I feel for you and wish you the best.

I have unfortunately found out that the side door of a minivan is a lot softer than the street in similar situations.  Sounds like you were going faster than I was though :(

Oh man, fellow rider, that sucks.

Yep, just proves, you are invisible to everybody but the cop.

Heal once, heal right and then come get it. The ribs are a bear, you will just have to let those heal.

Travelling workout again.  Yesterday was the house negotiating day from hell…10am to 10pm.  Does that count as a WOD?  The problem is that the time was 12hours but the result was a FAIL.  Start again today.

Yesterdays WOD on the hotel treadmill.  The wife joined me…her first real WOD and she loved it.

4 rounds for time
500m Run
50 Squats

18:06

We ran intervals of .4 distance on the treadmill.  They felt pretty long…I think the treadmill must have been imperial which would mean we were running approximately 640ms per interval.  Still a good workout.

Sorry to hear this Ron. I broke my 5th metatarsal just before Christmas, I was told 6 weeks back it still hadn’t fused together completely, I’m going back in July hopefully I’ll get the all clear. The doctor told me to put weight on the foot from the start and I think I took this too literally i.e. rushing back to work & training too soon.
I really should have sat on the sofa for a month, that first four to six weeks of healing are critical.

I’ve since learnt that the bones in the foot are not notoriously difficult to heal, the worst that can happen is that the ends of the break heal over instead of fusing together due to over use.

So my advise would be to take it very easy until you get the all clear from the doc. Avoid the temptation to rush back into it.

On a positive note the time out did me the world of good. Did loads of reading and discovered crossfit, totally changed my training phillosophy. So read read read

Good luck mate and keep posting it’ll be good to hear how you’re getting on.
