Ok Its the age old who wins discussion. I did not have the opportunity to see the recnt Liddel/  Couture Fight but I think I heard it ended with a knockout punch ? What do the Instructors think about this ?
Do you see a lot of KickBoxing combinations in UFC or hard get in get out strikes ?
Defenses against takedowns ?

Liddell came in and struck him with a solid punch and followed up with a left hook that sent Couture to the ground…but on his way down Liddell got him two more times….
Both of them have their advantages….but if you are good at both then you are a more complete fighter…

NIETHER IS BETTER WITHOUT THE OTHER. THE REASON WE EMPHISIZE SO MUCH ON GOOD HARD PUNCHES IS, WE WOULD LIKE THEM ALL TO BE KNOCKOUT PUNCHES. BE PREPARED FOR ALL POSSIBLITIES IN A FIGHT. YOU NEVER KNOW HOW IT WILL START, PROGRESS OR END.

I think that liddel had amazing power and speed in his punches and that is what nocked coture off gaurd because in the last fight lidel was a lot more timid because he was excpecting randy to take him to the ground but he didn’t and it caught him off gaurd now the reason randy lost is because he wasn’t ready for liddel’s stand up fighting and u have to be ready for both

I think it’s just like Sifu said. Whether you’re a boxer or grappler, you should be prepared for the other’s moves. One has to prepare for every possibility. What tools you choose to use is your “style.” What you’re prepared to go up against gauges how good of a fighter you are.
