7x1 Thrusters

warmups with bar/95/115

125/135/145/150/155/165/170…ALL PR’s since i’ve never done the 7x1 thruster wod before. at first i didn’t think i’d get over 135, but with golden1’s consant chitter-chatter AT me about not “pushing myself”, i made a mental note to try to really have a go at it and go heavier. and although i hate to admit it…he was right. thanks “D”. I also realized that opening up the hips aggressively really makes all the difference with the thruster.

Rope for 4 min and stretching, followed by front squats (45lb to 95lb).

Thrusters 7x1

105lb
115lb
125lb
135lb
140lb
145lb
155lb PR but I muscled the last half of the press.  Not bad since first time doing thrusters 7x1.

Good to have support of Golden1 and JJDax.  Thanks.

No prob Tom. its good to have another member in the “peach bottom xfit club”.

Thrusters 1-1-1-1-1-1-1
65-85-90-95-105-110-120 (all pr’s)

This was my first attempt at thrusters. These were much harder than anticipated. I felt as if I basically did a front squat with a shoulder press as opposed to it being one fluid motion. Is there a cue for when I should begin the press portion of the lift? It appears from the demo videos that the press does begin until he is completely vertical, but when I did that I didn’t have a lot of power generated.

Since you’re trying to generate the power with your hips, you don’t want to start pressing until you are standing all the way up and you want to stand up (open your hips) HARD.  Easier said than done, sadly, but as soon as you get out of the squat and are where you can really power it, go like heck.  If you pause at the top, you’ve lost that wonderful momentum you fought so hard for.

Hey guys, not sure if I should post this here and if this is the wrong place, sorry.  I was recently looking around at supplements etc. and not sure if they are even remotely worth the effort.  I am mainly concerned with my performance which has recently kind of peaked.  All these different substances brag about being amazing but I am not looking to be some huge monster or anything.  Clearly that won’t happen since I am so small anyways but still.  I have been eating much better since I am back to living with the parents (be jealous) but still I am stuck and can’t seem to do any better.  Should I even look at that sort of stuff or is it all bull?

“THRUSTERS”

buy in: 1.5 mile jog - 8:45….nice pace for me

thrusters:

-95
-115
-135
-155
-175
-185
-190

cash out: 5 rounds for time - 0.2 mile sprint + 10 bupees -> 14:42 PLUS 50 crunches

wasted some effort and reps on the first sets as i was unsure of a proper starting point….think i’ll be a bit better next time.

buy ins/cash outs are becoming something more than just a warm up and cool down.  not sure if that’s a good thing or not.

My first time on max thrusters, and still kinda getting the form down, so here we go…

115, 125, 135(F), 125, 125, 130(PR) , 130

The last 2 reps felt good, explosive like they should be.  I did 3x5 after this with the bar, to dial in the form and the blast upward.

Cashed out playing with handstands for about 15 minutes, then plenty of stretching.

Get some.

In kg: 48-50-52-54-54-55.5-57PR

This was my first time with this lift. It really helped using the instructions from TexasPatrick.

This also gave me an indication on where to start with the front squats.
Now I going for a run following the Crossfit Endurance.
Cheers!!
