The mainpage of CrossFit directs new people here for help getting started.  CF can be confusing enough for a newbie, we want to make it as easy as possible for them.  We ask you to be courteous and thoughtful of the newbies.  If they show up here for the first time and have to wade through 5-10 posts before we have a chance to scale for them, it can make it more difficult.

“I did a 6:00 AM WOD the other day - Fight Gone Bad. When I saw it on the gym whiteboard I thought “you’ve got to be kidding”. It turned out to be fantastic. I spent the rest of the day knowing that I had slayed a dragon.” Radiosound

“Scale appropriately and warm up well and the most dangerous thing you’ll do today is drive to work.” TexasPatrick

We did CrossFit Total today at my affiliate, so I won’t be doing the heavy DLs for Friday. Think I’ll just go on a 30-40 mile bike ride instead.

My deadlifts today though were:

Warm up:
145 lbs x 10
165 lbs x 10

385 lbs
400 lbs
415 lbs (10 lbs below PR)

___

My CFT was: 335 back squat + 205 lb shoulder press (PR) + 415 lb deadlift = 955 CFT. Gotta find another 45 lbs, most likely in the back squat.

Today (06/04/09) was Kelly @ pack scalling
Five Rounds:
400m
15box jump
15wall ball
for time of: 19:25.
I finished with 20 wallball shots and did the last 400m the fastest, which was really surprising. I pumped myself up for this one and am really happy with my time as I usually slack in the cardio exercises.

Friday is going to be my restday and I am hiking a mountain and going rock climbing lol! (weather permiting of coarse).

P.S - After todays workout… I dont think I will ever date a girl named kelly, and even the name kelsey makes me cringe now because it is prettty damn close to being kelly!

On Wednesday, June 3rd, did:

5 Pullups, 10 GHD situps, 15 Squats, 20 Walking Lunges +10kg
Rounds in 20 Minutes: 9 PR

Keeping my cycle rate up on this is hard.  Pullups are improving.

On Thursday, June 4th, did:

Rest.  Played a little Tennis

On Friday, June 5th, did:

Deadlift

120 kg (previous PR)
125
130
135
140
145 (F)
145 new PR

It’s hard to count the PR, since I was really just trying to find out if I could lift 120 kg.  Anyway, I might have run out of weight I can use on this exercise…

I only have 310# of weight available (garage gym), which is less than my one rep max.  What should I do instead of today’s WOD?  Would it be a good idea to do 5-5-5-5-5 or maybe 3-3-3-3-3-3-3?  Thanks in advance.

Deadlift 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps

185
205
225
245
265(pr)
285(PR)
305(f)

Previous PR was 250, but that was also my first attempt with weight.  I could almost count the 305.  My grip was failing at the top, right before I completed the lift.  So close…at least now I have a PR of 35# and a better idea of where I am at.

First time doing deadlifts. Practiced my form with 95# before moving to the WOD:
135
185
195
205
215
225
235
As for the big jump from the first one, my gym had no quickly accessible 5# plates, so I just skipped. Glad I did because I know my strength more accurately!
Ended the workout with a 1000m row (my, it was nice to row again)

Double unders are stupid unless:
1. You have no other holes in your fitness
2. You plan on competing

CFWU, then

“Deadlifts”
1-1-1-1-1-1-1

205-225-245-255-265(PR) - 275(PR) - 285(PR)

Notes:

Did 205-205-205-205-205-205-205 last time.  Hoping I can get to 300 next time.

Still feeling a bit like I’m bending at the waist rather than properly lifting with my legs.  I’ll work on that with lighter weights over the next few weeks.

Under the heading of “baby steps”...For the first time, during the PVC OH Squats that I did in the CFWU, I started to feel like I could go down and back up without the bar coming forward.  It felt like it wanted to stay centered and like I could actually start to handle a little bit of weight.  Maybe by doing the CFWU every day for a mere…let’s say…year or so, I’ll actually be able to crack triple figures in the OHS.  grin
