Questions to clarify.  First my pull-up bar is too tight to the wall to kip so I always do strict pull-ups and assume that is the appropriate sub for kipping.  Main question, if I come off the bar in the middle of the round, do I finish that round with a break or consider that round over and start a new one?  What is suggested break in between rounds if you need it to get through majority of round?

This one’s funny, because normally I consider a “set” to be say, the exercise like 3 weighted is a “set”.

In this one, however, theoretically there’s no reason to ever leave the bar . . . hahahahahaa welcome to Fantasy Island! Tattoo! Our guests!

You’d have someone give you the dumbell every time.  Not gonna happen.

So, you should finish every round, but count how many sets.  Over time, you should complete it in fewer and fewer sets.

So, come off in a round only once, then it took you two sets.  If you come off twice, three sets.

And yes you can sub strict, but you’ll be doing a looooot of those.  Good luck.

Suggested break?  hard to say.  Don’t know where your goats are.  Just do what you can, man . . . . .

TP

Got it.  You’re always helpful.  Thank you.  Not being able to kip and relying on strict pull-ups only has definitley hurt my times but has jacked my arms and back.  Trade-offs . . .

Main set
Ten rounds for time of:
3 Weighted Pull-ups, 35 pounds
5 Strict Pull-ups
7 Kipping Pull-up
TT: 26min, total sets 36.
Cash Out
35lbs db swing 3X10

First time doing this one with only scaling the weight. As I stated earlier, 150 pull-ups is going to suck. And it did. The pull-up bar I used has the rubber pads that rotate half the time. I kept falling off the bar. I’m going to go and stretch my arms out. I’ll probably have to do it again every 2 hours.

Since only the second set of pullups calls for strict/dead hang pullups, can you kip with the weighted ones?  is that even possible?

wow the weighted pull-ups were so hard, b.c i couldnt kip with 35 lbs hanging from me….but anyways.
4 rounds complete and 2 weighted pull-ups on the 5th round. in 10 minutes. Using the Pack scale. this workout was a tough one, but i will succeed as long as i know that “i will not quit, no matter what.” haha crossfit rocks.

Yes.  It’s both possible and if you can do it, you can.  I can kip it at 25lbs, but 45 ain’t happening because I can’t bring my knees up high enough . . . .

Soooo glad I didn’t attempt the big dawg!
I did pack and got 18:11 with 18 sets red face
I thought I was going to do a lot better
I started with CFWU and subbed push-ups for pull-ups on all three rounds
Finished up with 3x5 power hang cleans to develop my form. I finally got it down I think, I did 65,75, and 85# sets keeping form good.  I think the next time that lift comes along I’ll squash it.

I started out doing this as Rx’d, but eventually, I found out I should’ve done pack. Because of my unfortunate persistence, I did 5 rounds Rx’d, then 5 rounds pack. At least I know what to do next time and I don’t feel like a total failure -_-

something else to practice . Do you do a fill swing with the weight or just Kip your knees up . I’m not sure my shoulder could take the drop into the swing .

(I can only get 2,3 kips each attempt.  I loose momentum and hit a wall on the bottom.  Is this due to the fact that I might not be extending forward engouh, brining my head past my shoulders?)  Guess I’ll keep practicing!!!  Love this stuff.
