“Grace” by Keegan, CrossFit Kids - video [wmv][mov]
Keegan’s 5# over Bodyweight as RX’d Grace. Watching this. WOW.
The mainpage of CrossFit directs new people here for help getting started. CF can be confusing enough for a newbie, we want to make it as easy as possible for them. We ask you to be courteous and thoughtful of the newbies.
As Many Rounds in 20 Minutes Of:
5 pull-ups
10 dips
15 squats
11 rounds in 19:30
I did all my pull-ups as kipping pull-ups. Anybody know if that is correct? Or should they be static pull-ups??? I had to waste some time walking between the pull up bar and the dip rack, but that was a great rest. Tough workout. TOUGH.
Kipping is what’s intended. Any pull ups are accepted as long as they are full range of motion - at least chin over bar and full arm extension at the bottom.
I meant to do the real Cindy, but apparently during the 2-minute walk between my computer and the gym, I lost track of the proper exercises. Dips turned out to be the limiting factor in my workout, as I’m sure the push-ups would’ve been anyways.
Now I feel like I gotta go back out there and do the workout properly. Maybe I’ll give it a week until my body recovers!
There has been a couple of negative comments on the mainsite regarding Keegan’s video. Mainly regarding his landing position in the push jerk. It should be noted first that Keegan has worked with Burg. He was Burg certified at age 13. Secondly, the video is a good effort, not a perfect effort. There is a difference. Finally, the effort was safe. The landing position isn’t optimal, but it is safe.
I know you were there, and Mike and others so I am sure it was safe.
Some people think that all the videos should be of perfect efforts and thus rob themselves of a learning experience because they are trying to “teach” someone who is not their student. The lesson they missed was that a young man through hard work and dedication did something that many of the people wiht negative comments will never do, push themselves past a percieved limit because it would look too much like imperfection.
That was awesome work by Keegan. Incredible work by someone so young. He had solid form and a safe performance throughout the WO.
I agree 100% I think some folks on the main site also don’t realize that he is still young and therefore hasn’t stopped growing. He hasn’t reached that plateau point, so he has to make adjustments and do things a little different. But when he does reach that point, watch out. Especially you nay sayers.
Laura,
How could you tell Mike was there? It’s kind of funny though because through out the effort we talked to Keegan about his landing position. It’s just what he could do, that day with that weight.
