Rest Day on http://CrossFit.com

Skill Day on http://CrossFitKids.com

The mainpage of CrossFit directs new people here for help getting started.  CF can be confusing enough for a newbie, we want to make it as easy as possible for them.  We ask you to be courteous and thoughtful of the newbies.

Rest Day - Resting.

I would like to report that I achieved my first strict pull-up yesterday! When I started CrossFit in early June, I hadn’t had the upper-body strength to do pull-ups since grade school. I thought it would take much longer to get to the point where I could - my goal was within 6 months - but, now, not more than 2 and 1/2 months later, I did it.

I am always so awed by the numbers some of you folks put up and laugh when I post my very much smaller numbers next to yours. But, this stuff works, even for a 45 year old woman with an arthritic back - a back that got much better within a week of starting CrossFit, when I was able to drop the pain meds, and has stayed better this whole time. Some of the lifting has been scary, but I keep it light and slow and study the main-site videos over and over before I try anything.

So, it is time to say thank you again, especially for the scaled WODs.  You BrandX folks are great!  Thank you so much.

And we would like to congratulate you!!

Awwwwsome!!

And glad to hear about your back.  GD talks about how he used to bend over to pick up the boys backpacks and his back would seize up.  It doesn’t seize up so much anymore, that would get in the way of his 400lb deadlifts . . . wink

That’s really awesome actually.  I mean, with runners and cyclists, Sunday is one of the two get together with your friends days.  I completely understand why a cfit box wouldn’t have a sunday class, but at some level of growth and having extra trainers etc, there’s no reason not to have one.  Besides, I could almost always count on Sundays being lazy mornings.  Saturdays not so much.

I was able to do everything unbroken, including the kipping pullups (towards the end I broke off twice mid-set, but other than that, no real problems).  I seem to do better with the bodyweight-type WODS and am a lot weaker with anything involving barbells.  Oh well.  Off to work on my Hang Power Cleans today.

My very first “Crossfit” workout.  I did Friday’s (lunges, pull-ups, sit-ups).

Warm-up: 5 minutes on the bike, 5 minutes jumping rope.

Did the big dawgs repetitions but pull-ups were on a gravity assist machine set to 100 lbs.

Cool down: another few minutes of jump-rope and then walking on the treadmill for 10 minutes.

I’ve never, ever felt physically ill after or during a workout, but I was feeling a bit nauseous on the ride home from the gym.

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow’s workout will be!  I am so psyched about Crossfit!
