Thanks, Kodiak. I’ll be looking for your testimonial soon!  :D

(and you can cross post it on Crossfit.com!)

We have too many heroes lost and not enough workout days to commemorate them. I think it’s fitting to always think of the men and women in service, whether military or peace officers and public safety, as we do our workouts. A bit of motivation to throw a little of our sweat and maybe a drop of blood on the floor in their honor.

As soon as I have something decent to report, I’ll put my 2 cents here. Thanks.

O.k. Time to tell about improvement.  This morning I walked to Dos Picos park and back.  It’s a mile each way from my house.  I attempted to do this last summer, before I started CorssFit.  I walked for 15 minutes and got tired and turned around and went home.  I made it a half a mile.  Not so good.  Today I walked ALL the way to the park in 18 minutes, and the same on the way back.  I walked fast and I was hardly winded.  Oh, yeah.  This was 1 week after surgery.  I couldn’t believe how much CrossFit had affected my stamina, speed and healing process.  I will never quit doing this!!!

Yay! Marla, that’s so cool. It keeps amazing me how Crossfit makes your body do so well other things, like healing up from surgery more quickly.

You’ll be back in no time.  smile

Way to go, Marla!

I have to agree with everyone here. I have to run two flights of stairs occasionally here at work. Before I started crossfit I could barely make it up without feeling winded. Now I can literally run up and down—twice—without much effort. And my breathing recovers faster. Feels good.

Today I ran a little circuit near my house about 1.5-2 miles. I used to slowly run it pretty often before Crossfit, now I mostly run only in the workouts when called for.
I still run slowly but cut almost 5 minutes off my last time- pre CrossFit.
went from 18 minutes to just under 13.5.

Okay,
I’m looking at this thread and thinking of the progress everyone has made.  This thread is way to empty!  I’d like to see some testimonials that we could put up on our front page.  Some of you have lost a ton of weight.  There’s a lady who dresses in pink who can now out run me.  A guy that had to hold on to the wall to pick stuff up off the ground when he started who can now do a ton of weight doing front squats. etc. etc. etc.  Come on folks!

Is anybody out there NOT tired of my ravings?  LOL I can post an updated testimonial later this evening.

And yes, I would like to see more stories from the people you mentioned, GardDawg. Everyone is looking AWESOME. Over the last 6 months I have witnessed so many amazing things.

I passed some pictures around and released Mikki from the embarassment clause of my contract so Ryan can put them up on the website when he gets time. Next stop: belly button jewelry.

haha! True…. I still can’t believe it. LOL.

Here they are for the world to see:
Before:
2004_0903_tummy.JPG
After:
2005_0313_tummy2.JPG

I started Crossfit in Aug/Sept of 2004. I had been kickboxing and Ricky and Jason kept after me to try crossfit. More like whenever I whined about the kickboxing warmup they said, “You think this is tough? Try crossfit!”

So I did.

I haven’t really lost “weight”, but when you look at the dramatic difference in the pictures you really can’t deny the fact that exchanging fat for muscle has been happening. My waist measurement is the same, but the shape of my waist has changed. My abs are evident in the picture but still under a layer of fat that probably will only go away if I attack my diet more consistently.

I can run more consistently, lift decent weights, do modified WOD in respectable times, and keep coming back for more. I can do a good imitation of a pullup, many more pushups than when I started.

I would compare my starting times to my current times, but you know what, I am doing the workouts so much more differently now it’s really no comparison. For instance, I did helen with Ring Rows and 20 lb db swings about 4 months ago at 14:00. But when I did Helen this weekend, it took me 17 and change. But I did it with pullups (singles) and a 25#db. The times are (almost) irrelevant to me at this point.

I’m still not a big dog - but I think I will be at some point.

WOOF!
