TUESDAY 100112

Three rounds for time of:
Walking lunge, 50 meters
Standing broad-jump, 100 meters
Run 200 meters

Post time to comments.

Please hold questions and comments until Garddawg or BlueBugofJustice post the scaling, which usually includes links to exercise videos, common substitutions and other helpful information.
The mainpage of CrossFit directs new people here for help getting started.  CF can be confusing enough for a newbie, we want to make it as easy as possible for them.  We ask you to be courteous and thoughtful of the newbies.  If they show up here for the first time and have to wade through 5-10 posts before we have a chance to scale for them, it can make it more difficult.

“I did a 6:00 AM WOD the other day - Fight Gone Bad. When I saw it on the gym whiteboard I thought “you’ve got to be kidding”. It turned out to be fantastic. I spent the rest of the day knowing that I had slayed a dragon.” Radiosound

Tonight we had our CrossFit Teen class do a workout with broad jumps in it.  We had them do a max broad jump before we started and marked how far they went.  No broad jump counted if it didn’t come within 5 inches of the max.  Maybe you Big Dawgs should try something like that on the WOD today.

Big Dawgs and The Porch:
as Rx’d

Puppies:
Three rounds for time of:
Walking lunge, 25 meters
Standing broad-jump, 25 meters
Run 200 meters

Fran scaled to 20kg (44lb)
21, 15, 9

Thrusters
Pull ups

5:40

I started out with the Rxd weight however got through 14 reps of the thrusters on that and had to go back to the bar. Still, pretty happy with the time, haven’t done Fran since my Cert in November. Really really hot day today, felt good to sweat it up big time. Hoping to go the full rxd weight next time, even if it slows me down a minute or two..

We have too many heroes lost and not enough workout days to commemorate them. I think it’s fitting to always think of the men and women in service, whether military or peace officers and public safety, as we do our workouts. A bit of motivation to throw a little of our sweat and maybe a drop of blood on the floor in their honor.

TUESDAY 12-Jan-10

WU:
CFWU
1k row on C2

WOD: Scaled for Puppies.

Three rounds for time of:
Walking lunge, 25 meters
Standing broad-jump, 25 meters
Run 200 meters

Time: 11.15

CD:
1k row on C2

Too late to ask now as the workout is complete…but as I am a “puppy” I didn’t use any additional weight (other than what I have worked so hard to grow for the last 36 years) to my lunge - is that the right way to do it?

Thanks!

Push Jerk 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps

I stayed pretty conservative.  The garage was around 15 degrees and the floor surface was questionable at best.

How do you mark of 25 meters? 400 meters is one lap on a highschool track. How many feet to step off (I wear size 12 works well when measuring)? Also what is a broad jump? Is it the jump where you use two legs together and jump out (away) as far as possible?

Cant do today’s workout due to snow outside and lack of space in our garage to do the lunges/jumps/runs

Did “Jackie” again
100 SDHP with 35# KB
50 thrusters with 35# DB
30 beginner pull ups

14’50

One minute faster than last time in December but it was hard. Beginner pull ups were awful and the thrusters felt so heavy. Maybe due to the DB.
I definitely lost strength over the holidays…

CFWU subbed dip by HSPU

50 lunges, 100m broad jump + 20 box jump 18”

20:11

Dissapointing, I have a mild case of flu that made me cough all way through and forced longer than required pauses

Yeah you did it right:

When you look at the wod as it’s posted, if it doesn’t specifiy a weight or state “post loads to comments” or something like that, it’s a body weight exercise and you just knock it out.

For instance, if this had been weighted lunges or overhead lunges, they would have specified a weight.
