Don’t know my time because I forgot to start the stopwatch. Was a bit of a mess at first because I almost snapped myself in half trying to walk by myself through my living room. Eventually my wife had to help me do the walks but I’m wondering who made the bigger effort during this exercise ...
Glad tomorrow is a rest day
1.5mi run, did the last .5 walking.. Knee/it band acting up. need to do some serious stretching/roller work.. What I’m not sure of is if it’s just superficial pain due to the tight muscle/ligaments or if by running through the pain I’m doing some sort of damage. I tend to err on the side of caution for the safety of my rickety old bendy parts.
First mile, ~9min.. Really slippery on the path today due to warm/cold swings. This is about 1.5 min off my normal mile time.
Stopped to play with the dog in the snow for a while before walking back.
22:00 even (left at 6:22am, returned 6:44am)
Forgot what running at 15F does to a guy.. Nose was running like a faucet, lungs burning from the cold dry air.. Reminds me of xc ski practice back in the day.
Three rounds for time of:
Walk on hands, 100 feet—> 20 Wall Runs
Hold handstand against wall for two minutes—> one minute
15 Handstand push-ups—> Piked w/ feet on bench
16:58
This was tough!! I can barley lift my arms now, and it’s 4 hours later.
I did a modified CFWU, 2 rounds,
w/ dips, pull ups and back extensions being done on a Total Gym to make 10 dips and pull ups possible. Will try supermans for back extensions next time.
3 rounds:
bear crawl 50 ft
pike hold one minute—did the head up version, not the head down, oops. I scaled by sitting crosslegged, putting my knuckles down into the rug, locking out my arms, and then pushing to take as much of my body weight onto my arms as I could. Grunting and shaking ensued. First round broken. Rounds 2 and 3 toughed it out.
8 hand stand push ups, progressive, hanging off edge of bed version, resting mid thigh
I kept the intensity pretty low so as not to go into shock just yet.
Handstand Walk, Handstands
Slightly better than puppies (I insisted)
Three rounds for time of:
Wall Walks 10 each arm + Bear crawl, 50 feet
Pike hold for one minute
10 Handstand push-ups with feet up on bed
10:40
Cooled down with:
A LOT of active stretching
300m jog with the pup
50 ft bear crawl
30 squats
Some downward dog
I want to start with saying wow, this was a crazy workout, and it is always fun to do things that fall in the gymnast range because I need a lot of work in that area. I want to follow that up with the question: Does anyone else feel this was kind of foolish to do the day after a workout like Lynne? Tomorrow’s workout (my 3rd) will hopefully HOPEFULLY hit my lower half.
Planned to do 3 x 1 mile run for time but only managed to do 2 x 1 mile runs
1 - 8’09
2 - 8’45 (shame on me)
Couldn’t manage a 3rd run so did :
100 sit ups for time : 3’22
rest and then another 100 sit ups (broken in sets of 20)
Felt weak on the treadmill , i keep having cramps each time i run.
Also I was five pounds lighter than normal weight today. I’ve lost strength and muscle mass over the holidays and somehow pounds keep on dropping. I feel weak each time there is cardio involved in a workout.
SP - 100# for all sets
PP - 115#/125#(2)/135#
PJ - 135#/145#(2)/150#(PR)
Metcon Time: 2:17
I needed some shoulder/upper body work. All presses felt pretty good at a good weight. Push Jerk was heavy, but I video’d the PR attempt/make and it looked good.
Metcon was a lot of box jumps!! I also video’d this metcon just to see what I looked like and I think I opened my hips on each rep (camera was more focused on the lower body). Good workout…
I’d love to hear everyon’s opinions on this, so please share:
Has anyone taken an “active rest” week? I’ve been doing CFit now for about 4 months, my last rest week was b/c I was sick. When I complete this week, this will be my 10th week straight doing WODs. I’m thinking about taking every 12th week off. Does anyone have success with this? What do you do during the off week, I can’t imagine doing nothing!
Thanks, all opinions are welcome.
I like the idea and am interested the take from others too. The rest days seem to be getting shorter and shorter.

Obviously I’d like to do something during the week, I’m not going to lay around. I was thinking about taking the WOD’s for the week and just cutting them in half, never going to failure, but doing enough to keep myself in the routine I’m in now.
Wow do I ever need it after this week!! Feels like a perfect day for making rings. Picking up PVC and strapping in the morning and replacing my kids unused tree swing with a set of homemade rings tomorrow. Other than that and burpees…I plan on doing nothing else.
Who am I kidding? As soon as the rings are up Im going to want to see what all I can make a fool of myself trying….
On a side note. I found out tonight that the 45# bar Ive been using all this time is ACTUALLY a 55# bar. So those thrusters I did on Monday were actually 75#‘s and not 65#. yay me.
I found my #45 bar was a #35# bar. Nowhere near as pleased.
