Hello,

I’ve ben doing Crossfit since Sept ‘09 and my 9 yr old son wants to start doind too.  I checked out the Crossfit for Kids website already.  My question is how does the WOD work?  I see a “Buy in”, a “Cash Out” and I see two different types a workouts on one day. What goes first and what workout do I pick for him?  Can someone please put me on the right track here and provide me some knowledge?  Thank you….sorry I put this in the wrong post!

Jay, have you looked over this page on the CF Kids site:

http://www.crossfitkids.com/index.php/Dawgs/

It explains the different scaling of the CFK WOD and where to start your own child.

The buy in and cash out are extra work/practice to learn new skills and do fun stuff before and after the workout. I am not a CFK trainer but you will probably get a reply from one of them pretty soon. smile

We have too many heroes lost and not enough workout days to commemorate them. I think it’s fitting to always think of the men and women in service, whether military or peace officers and public safety, as we do our workouts. A bit of motivation to throw a little of our sweat and maybe a drop of blood on the floor in their honor.

Thanks Laura!  I needed that just to get me in the right direction! I did check out the link you posted prior to reaching out for help.  It was good for telling me where to start, but I was still curious about the other questions I had.  Once again thanks!

Jay
We are running a certification this weekend so we are not on the web much till Monday.  Laura pointed you towards where to start.  The Buy in is a skill based warm up, follow that with the wod, the cash out is generally a skill based cool down or extra work on something.

Jay, I think what you are seeing is the different scaling brackets, big dawgs, Pack, puppies. Big dawgs is the hardest workout, then the Pack, then Puppies is for the beginners. That’s where you should start.
